Grid Tie Roof Top SPV
Rooftop Solar Power Plants in India
Rooftop solar power plants are a smart and sustainable solution for both domestic and commercial users across India. By converting sunlight into clean electricity, these systems significantly reduce monthly power bills and dependence on conventional energy sources. For homes, rooftop solar offers energy independence, low maintenance, and long-term savings, while for businesses, it ensures stable power supply and faster return on investment. Modern on-grid systems with net metering allow users to export surplus energy back to the grid, further maximizing economic benefits. Installation is quick, scalable, and adaptable to various roof types—making solar energy accessible for households, offices, schools, and industries alike. Investing in solar today not only saves money but also contributes to a cleaner and greener future for India.
Grid-tie solar systems
Grid-tie solar systems link solar panels to the electric grid, enabling users to generate their power. Excess electricity produced is fed back into the grid, often earning credits or reducing bills. This sustainable solution allows seamless transition between solar and grid power, ensuring a reliable energy supply. Grid-tie solar setups are popular for their economic benefits, environmental impact, and contribution to a more resilient and decentralized energy infrastructure. grid.
Net Metering & Gross Billing: CESC & West Bengal DISCOMs (WBSEDCL / CESC)
Key Regulations & Eligibility
The West Bengal Electricity Regulatory Commission (WBERC) has released the Grid Interactive Rooftop Solar PV System for Prosumers Regulations, 2025. Prosumers (people who both consume & produce electricity) can opt for net metering, net billing, or gross metering.
- For CESC (Kolkata) and WBSEDCL Net Metering is applicable for consumers having solar capacity 1 KW or more and up to 500 KW or up to contract demand / atramental load whichever is lower.
Net Metering:-
How it works? Solar power you generate is first used for your consumption. Excess is sent to grid; imported units from grid minus exported units = your net usage.
Billing / Tariff rules in these areas :- You pay only for net imported units (grid electricity minus exported). Surplus exported units get credited and carried forward (within the billing period or annually as per regulation)
